02/26/2013 – Dow Jones , S&P 500 and NASDAQ try to limit the yesterday’s damages.

Market review – Tue, Feb 26th ,2013 : The major indexes Dow Jones, S&P 500 and NASDAQ saw a solid open, and added nice gains, right away. But, the early enthusiasm ran into trouble quickly, as like yesterday and the indexes started to recede. The Dow Jones managed to withstand the sell-off, but the S&P 500 and NASDAQ priced in red. It took about noon or so for the reaction to run the course, and finally the indexes to regain the momentum. The Dow Jones led the pack. As the slow, but steady rally continued until the end of the trading session, the indexes ended the day with modest gains. But, the bounce back was no match to the yesterday’s sell-off.

Volume : The trading volume came in mixed for the day, as it slightly edged up in the NYSE stock exchange, and receded in the NASDAQ. The NASDAQ’s volume was not that bad, though. The modest volume level increase, added some luster to the today’s gains.

Growth stocks: The leading growth stocks from our watch list also enjoyed the modest bounce, today. The heavy volume gainers led the day, but still decent number of stocks made it to the decliners list. Our Top 250 – Growth stock daily heat map also blanketed with greener shade, as well.

Recap: The indexes staged a modest bounce back, and put their best effort to limit the yesterday’s losses. They were successful to some extent. The trading volume levels also added some luster. It would have been nice, if the S&P 500 and NASDAQ also showed the resilience, as like the Dow Jones. Again, today’s bounce back was helpful, but no match to the yesterday’s sell-off. So, the downward pressure still on. Be watchful with your trades, as we steer through this sandwiched period.
