09/13/2012 – Dow Jones , S&P 500 and NASDAQ explode and make multiyear highs.

In today’s (09/13/12) stock market recap, let’s analyze the key actions of the major indexes Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), S&P 500(SPX) and NASDAQ Composite (COMP).All three indexes started the day in flat and pretty much traded along that lines until noon, time. The indexes started to march higher as they witnessed a powerful rally in the early afternoon. As the rally got nothing but stronger as the trading session progressed, the indexes kept on accumulating gains. Though, they gave some slight ground in the final minutes of trading, they still logged between +1.33% and +1.63% gains. S&P 500 outperformed for the day.

Trading volume was running lower during the morning session both in NYSE and NASDAQ stock exchanges, but picked pace along with the market rally and resulted in heavier trade than yesterday’s level.

Leading growth stock from our watch list had a good day, today as they completely took the advantage the positive trading climate. The heavy volume gainers list dominated in the afternoon and only handful of stocks made to the decliners list.

The indexes changes the course today and broke the dull market. As today’s gains were backed up by heavy volume, it added more luster to the gains. Many of our “Stocks Picks” posted solid gains for the day. So, get on the growth stocks as they breakout. Don’t settle for lackluster/ second tier stocks. Remember, to make money in the stock market, we need to be part of the action. Being close to the action may yield some profits, but definitely not bigger profits. Also avoid the stocks which are extended in price.
