11/21/2012 – Dow Jones , S&P 500 and NASDAQ add gains on light pre-holiday volume.

In today’s (11/21/12) stock market recap, let’s analyze the key actions of the major indexes Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA), S&P 500(SPX) and NASDAQ Composite (COMP). All three indexes stared the day in the positive territory, but immediately witnessed a negative reaction. It was light in Dow Jones side, while noticeable in S&P 500 and NASDAQ sides. But, the indexes shrugged off the reaction and started to rally higher. They hit the intraday high by noon, and spent rest of the day in a constructive consolidation mode. Dow Jones added +0.38% and outperformed for the day. NASDAQ and S&P 500 also gained and matching the gains posted by the blue-chip index.

Trading volume went down in both NYSE and NASDAQ exchanges considerably and came in lower than yesterday’s level.

Leading growth stocks from our watch list continued their upward momentum today, as well. The heavy volume gainers had the upper hand and only handful of leaders made it to the decliners list. The green shade over took the red shade in our “Top 250 – Growth Stock Daily Heat Map”. Having said that majority of the stocks also kept low profile.

The indexes displayed their upward strength, today as well. They fought back the early sell off and witnessed a bullish close. Volume was light , but that was expected before the long weekend trading. Today’s gain further strengthen the current “Rally Attempt” as it was bumped to “4”, now.

Though, a new rally attempt is underway, that didn’t stop few leaders to “Breakout” in the last few days.
